2011: A YEAR OF GREAT CHANGE
Emily Kissell May 2011
Dear friends and family,
I apologize for this extremely late update! School and being on NightWatch has proven to be a busy schedule. My housemates and I also recently lost our previous house manager along with internet. All excuses aside, I just want to first mention how much I love it here! This semester has been amazing, frustrating, exciting, testing, life-changing, etc. From losing a car and a cell phone in one day, to being without a car or a phone for a few weeks to being healed progressively in my back to countless inner healing times as well. These past 5 months have been all that and more.
Most importantly I have grown more in love with Jesus because He has given me more and more revelation of Him. I have learned and experienced how much prayer truly does work; He really does hear us and answer us when we pray and cry out to Him. Being an intercessor (fancy word for what we Christians are called to do: pray) has brought so much joy to my life. I have always loved praying and talking to God, but being in a community that does it 24/7 is truly an honor and a blessing. This past Saturday (May 7th) marked the 12 year anniversary of IHOP-KC’s prayer room. However, they did not have the 24 hours until September 19th, 1999. So, this September, God willing, I will have the opportunity to celebrate 12 years of 24/7, unceasing, night and day prayer with this community! I am so honored to be a very tiny part of this history, even though I have not yet been here a full year consecutively.
I have also attached the Feb. 2011 update letter that I never sent out. So, I will not make this one too long. I also want to thank you all so very much for your prayers and support in these past 5 months. Thank you for partnering with me! The Lord has been teaching and testing me on the fact that He is my provider. Month after month He has proven Himself in this way by giving me just what I need and sometimes a little left over! I have learned that if I am faithful in giving what little I have back to Him (whether it be tithe or giving above that), He is more than willing and able to supply all of my needs. That being said, I would like to extend the invitation to partner with me by sowing into the prayer movement. Your sowing into the prayer movement may look small or large in your minds but the Lord has the ability, resources and desire to increase that amount and give it back to you. He says so: Malachi 3:10-12 “’Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ Says the LORD of hosts,If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,’ Says the LORD of hosts; and all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,’ Says the LORD of hosts.’” (NKJV) I am honored to serve in the prayer room, the temple of the Lord if you will. I pray daily for all of you and appreciate all of you! Please send me any prayer requests you may have, I would love to pray into specific things with you.
For the next 3 years (at least) I will be ministering in this house of prayer and then beyond that, only God knows for now. I am excited to partner with you not just these next 3 years but for the rest of our lives here on this earth! Be blessed! J
